the rests on the (decent import) grinder are at least cast... well, metal... not sure you could call 'em iron, but i'm sure that's what they were supposed to be. but as usual, they're pretty small, one has an utterly useless 'drill sharpening' v-groove that renders the rest of the tool rest equally useless, and both are held on by a small carriage bolt and a wing nut that invaribly loosen under vibration.
in a radio, the pointer is moored to the cord, so it traverses a linear dial between the pulleys as the knob is turned. on a grinding rest, moor the moving table to the cord or cable. the circumf. of the driving pulley has to be equal to the table traverse, though, which might make for a bulky contraption. andy. bazyle: 27/05/2013 11:49:28: 5890 forum posts
